Sudanese factory owner may sue United States

ASSOCIATED PRESS
KHARTOUM, August 23: A pharmaceutical plant destroyed by US missiles produced only drugs and its owner never met Osama bin Laden, the Muslim militant America blames for the bombings of two US embassies in Africa, the owner's lawyer said yesterday.

Washington attacked the North Khartoum plant on Thursday, saying it was making precursors for chemical weapons that might be used by bin Laden.``I think the Americans are under bad information and they are not well briefed,'' said Ghazi Suleiman, a lawyer for Salah Idris, the factory's Sudanese owner.

Suleiman said Idris may seek $ 50 million in compensation from the United States, but was yet to take any step. ``I think it would have been prudent before destroying the plant to come and investigate the site,'' he said.
