Probe begins in loot case
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, Aug 23: The Umra police have begun investigations in a case of armed loot, where the manager of an industrial unit was looted of Rs 74,000 cash by two assailants at around 6 pm on Saturday. In a case registered in the station late on Saturday night, Gautam Narayandas Patel, manager of Balaji Industries II -- located on the Udhna Magdalla Road -- has stated that he was about to leave his office when two persons barged in and demanded money. They injured him four times with a knife before forcing him to hand over the cupboard's key to them.According to Patel, the two between 25 and 30 and dark-complexioned were speaking Hindi. Patel in the complaint had stated that he had withdrawn Rs 74,000 from the bank a day before to pay wages to employees. The police, meanwhile, feel that the two accused must have been aware that there was cash in the cupboard. The police have begun interrogations of unit workers. A case of armed loot under sections 394 and 114 of the IPC as well as section 135 of the BPA has been registered and investigations are on, the police said, assuring that the case would be solved soon.
