Airbus receives $9 bn BA order

LONDON, Aug 25: British Airways Plc announced orders for 188 new aircraft valued at $ 9 billion on Tuesday, with the lion's share of the business going to Airbus Industries, the first time the British airline has bought from the European consortium.The airline said it has placed firm orders for 39 A 319 and 20 A320 aircraft, to be delivered from September next year. It has and taken options on a further 129 of these Airbus short-haul aircraft. The first 21 new aircraft will be used by British Airways Regional on its routes from Birmingham and Manchestor.
