SURAT, Sept 1: The Khajuria camp of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Surat Municipal Corporation received one more setback with the appointment of Ajay Choksi as standing committee chairman and Natubhai Patel as leader of the House.Their names were read out late on Monday night by the party's city unit president Pravin Naik from an envelop brought by Surat affairs in-charge Jayantibhai Kevat and observer Thakorbhai Naik.
Patel is the outgoing standing committee chairman, while Choksi is not even a member of the standing committee. Patel will tender his resignation paving the way for the former's entry into the standing committee.
The general board meeting will have to be convened shortly to facilitate Choksi's entry first as a member and subsequently as the chairman. Choksi has held the post three times in the past. Incidentally, Choksi was once close to Fakirbhai Chauhan and Kashiram Rana before he got disillusioned with them and shifted loyalty to the Hajuria camp.
