SOLAPUR, SEPT 3: Thane and Pune districts entered the girls' final of the 15th Maharashtra State Inter-District youth basketball championship here today. In a day of upsets, Thane girls beat holders Mumbai Central 40-22 to set themselves up for their second consecutive state title.Thane had won the U-13 state championship in May. Comfortably placed 23-12 at the lemon time, Thane never had a threat from the Mumbai girls. Tall Gayatri Manolikar excelled in offence to emerge top scorer of the match with 12 pts.
In another thrilling semifinal, Pune beat Nagpur 42-37. Lanky Vaidehi Mohite played a superb game and was the architect of Pune's victory.
