Main accused in Borivli murder held

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, Sept 3: A prime accused in the murder of former president of Borivli unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Omprakash Jagdamba Mishra, was today arrested at Borivli. Pappu Yadav, who was picked up this morning from a hideout at Carter Road, was one of the two assailants who had shot Mishra dead at his residence on Carter Road no. 7 on August 25. His accomplice is still at large.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Yadav had demanded protection money from one of Mishra's friends. However, not only was the demand rejected, a complaint was also lodged with the police at Mishra's behest. ``This angered Yadav and he decided to kill Mishra,'' said a police officer requesting anonymity.

Mishra's death had triggered off a riot at Bhagwati Hospital and a bandh was declared at Borivli after the doctors allegedly failed to attend to him in time.
