Assaulted
The city police have registered a case of attempt to murder against one Jagdish alias Jaggu Laxmandas Tharwani of Varasia, who allegedly assaulted his wife with a blade. According to the police, Tharwani's wife went to her sister's place, despite his wishes, which provoked him to assault her. The woman has been admitted to the SSG Hospital and undergoing treatment, the police said adding that Jaggu was absconding after the incident.Arrested
Four people have been arrested in connection with murder of one Raju alias Dinesh Jaisinh Patel, a resident of Maharaja Nagar in Akota, whose body was recovered by the railway police from the railway tracks. Raju was allegedly murdered by Mohan Lal and his friends of Maharaja Nagar following an altercation during the Ganesh procession on Wednesday night.
Purse stolen
A purse containing Rs 6,700, driving licence and visiting cards was stolen from a Maruti car (GBK 608), parked opposite the Mangaldeep Complex on Productivity Road.
Moped stolen
A moped (GJ-6-DD-9782) worth Rs 8,000 was reported stolen from Deepika Society on Wednesday, the police said.
Burns death
Surat: One Vandana More, a 22-year-old newly married woman residing in Limbyat, died on Thursday in the Rustompura Maulvi hospital, where she was admitted with burn injuries, the police said. According to the Limbayat police, Vandana was admitted with burn injuries in the hospital on August 8. The victim declared in her dying statement that she received the injuries while making tea.
