Liquor worth Rs 1.7 lakh recovered
Officials of the Excise Intelligence Bureau arrested six alleged bootleggers from various areas in west Delhi on Wednesday and recovered Indian Made Foreign Liquor and country-made liquor worth more than Rs 1.7 lakh.

The team raided a farmhouse in Mundka and recovered 1,920 bottles of IMFL from the premises. In another raid, the excise officials recovered 1,200 pouches of country-made liquor from the Jawalapuri area. Two persons were arrested. In Sultanpuri, the officials raided a house and seized 2,200 bottles of IMFL. They also arrested a woman, Taro, in this connection. And in the Anand Parbat area, one person, Partap, was allegedly arrested with 55 bottles of IMFL.

Three held for robbery
The Mangolpuri police on Thursday arrested three youths who had allegedly robbed a man of his Maruti car and cellphone in Rohini last night.

The arrests followed a detailed description of the assailants given by the car owner, Vibhav Jain, 25. Jain was sipping a cold drink outside a shop in Sector 2, Rohini, when he was accosted by the youths. They forcibly took away Jain's cellphone before speeding away in his car.

Ganga Ram was the first to be arrested. It was later found that he was also involved in a case of rape. Ganga Ram's accomplices, Suresh Rathi and Avtar Singh, were arrested following his questioning.

Telephone cables stolen
Around 1,200 telephones in south Delhi went dead on Wednesday night when three different sets of telephone cables were stolen near the water supply office in Mehrauli. The MTNL spokesman said that it would take at least three days to restore the connections.

DVB raids
The Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) and the police carried out joint raids in several colonies in the Capital on Thursday and registered 23 cases of direct theft with a connected load of 123.29 KW. The premises raided were commercial establishments stealing power in Tughlaqabad in south Delhi.

The Board spokesman said that cases of tampering of meters and service lines were seen in Vishvas Nagar and Mandoli areas. He said that 36 other cases of violation were detected and the police were to register 23 cases of power theft.
