NEW DELHI, Sept 4: The Bajrang Dal has lashed out at the Delhi BJP government for trying to revive the Mughal culture in the Capital's Chandni Chowk area. ``By organising the Chaudvin Ka Chand festival and the Meena Bazar to revive the Mughal culture in the Walled City, the BJP government is trying to take the people back to the dark middle ages,'' remarked Bajrang Dal national convenor Surendra Kumar Jain.He warned the Delhi government not to go ahead with the programme, or be prepared to face the wrath of the Bajrang Dal activists. ``We will show black flags to the people behind the show on Sunday.''
He clarified that the Dal was not against the cleanliness drive. ``We are only opposed to attempts to glorify the Mughal era,'' he asserted. According to him, Meena Bazar was a symbol of hatred. ``Emperor Akbar used to select young women for his harem from these bazars, which were meant only for women,'' Jain remarked.
When it was pointed out to him that it was BJP MP Vijay Goel who was behind the show,he replied: ``We do not support the BJP in all its programmes. It is our duty to warn the partymen if they deviate from their path.''
Jain also told The Indian Express that the Bajrang Dal would on September 10 make a bonfire of advertisements and hoardings put up by Pepsi and Coke in the city. ``As part of our campaign against American products, we'll burn these materials in the central park of Connaught Place,'' he said.``In the second phase of our campaign to promote the swadeshi spirit, we will organise pickets outside the bottling plants of these two companies across the company,'' he added.
