Appointed
Dr I C Patel, deputy health officer of the Surat Municipal Corporation, who was holding the charge of Deputy Commissioner (Health & Hospital) has been appointed Deputy Commissioner (H&H). Municipal Commissioner S Jagadeesan on Thursday issued an order ``In pursuance of the government resolution no SMN/8098/P dated 29.8.1998, appointing Dr Patel as Deputy commissioner (H& H) in the pay scale of Rs 14300-400-18300 under sub-section 6 of section 45 of the BPMC Act, 1949.''

Open house
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with several trade associations of South Gujarat will organise an open house in the first week of October. Industry Minister Suresh Mehta, Industry Commissioner K Shelat, senior officials from GIDC, GIIC, the Surat Electricity Company, the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation, among others will be present. All those who have any grievances related to the industry, should give it in writing at the Chamber's office at Samruddhi Building, Nanpura, or the district industry office, Block-A, 6th floor.

Building stopped
The Pandesara Gujarat Housing Board has stopped construction on an open plot following a representation made by the Yuvak Mandal. Residents of the Pandesara area, with a population of more than 60,000 people, had requested Housing Board Chairman Praful Barot to stop construction on the plot, which was used for various cultural activities.

Grievances
Water Supply Minister Narottam Patel, who is also incharge of Surat district and incharge secretary Sudhaben Anchaliya will hear peoples' grievances at a function to be held on September 25 at the collectorate premises. All those who have grievances against any department should send their grievances in writing to the PRO, collectorate office before September 14. Departments concerned have been asked to inform of the action they have taken on earlier complaints by September 21.
