Crime Watch -- Surat

Man stabbed in city
One Piyush Shantilal Modi, a resident of Gopalji Ni Wadi area of Delhi Gate, was stabbed on Saturday evening and has been admitted to the Maskati hospital in a serious condition, a case registered in the police station said. According to the police, the victim stated of being attacked by a person he recognised by face but not know by name. The reason behind the attack could not be ascertained, the police added.

Brawl
Three people were injured when two groups clashed on Althan Road, a case registered in the Umra police station said. Mayur Patel, a resident Ratnadeep Society on Althan Road, complained to the Umra police that a group of seven people, five of whom he identified as Naseer, Mukesh Magan, Savvu, Mathur and Sunil bashed him up with hockey sticks and pipes, while two of his friends, Yatin and Manoj Chauhan, were assaulted with knives. According to the police, one of the accused Naseer had hit a girl living in the complainant's society with a motorcycle, to which Mayur protested. The attack was a fallout of the incident, the police added. Cases of rioting and causing injuries have been registered against the accused under IPC 143, 147, 148, 323 and 114 and are being investigated.

Burgled
Thieves broke into the locked house in the Wadi Falia area of the city and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 27,000 on Saturday night, the police said. Bhikhabhai Parmar, residing at house no 9/678 at Siddh Mata Ni Sheri of Wadi Falia, complained to the Athwa Lines that his house burgled by miscreants, who took away Rs 2500 in cash and ornaments worth Rs 25,000 while the family was away. The police have registered a case under sections 454, 457 and 380 of the IPC and are investigating.
