CHANDIGARH, Sept 6: Trials to select Chandigarh boys and girls team in the under-16, under-18 and under-20 groups for the forthcoming North Zone junior athletics meet to be held in the last week of September at Kanpur, were conducted at Sector 7 Sports Complex, today. Trials were also held in Pentathalon for under-14 section.Barring a few athletes, most of the participants were well off the sixth place mark of the last North Zone meet held in Chandigarh, which the Amateur Athletic Association of Chandigarh, has set as a qualifying mark in all the events. Players from Girls Hostel, Sector 18 and Shivalik Public School-41 also took part in the trials.
However, in some events, athletes from Punjab and Haryana also gave trials. According to an official of the AAAC, athletes from other states will not be included in the team. The team would be declared tomorrow.
