CHANDIGARH, Sept 7: Twenty one trainees, including six girls, are attending a special coaching camp being conducted by Davis Cupper Ramesh Krishnan at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Complex in Sector 10 here.Being the first day of the seven-day training programme, Krishnan today devoted the entire evening session on the two synthetic courts. Among trainees on these courts were international Akshay Vishal Rao, Sunil Kumar, Sarbarinder Singh, Sukhamrit Lakhat, Anoop Anand, Akash Sharma, Simmi Rani and Harsimran Kaur.
Akshay Vishal Rao will miss the remaining training programme as he is leaving for Italy to represent India in the World Youth Cup being held in Italy. Sunil may also not be able to attend the camp as he is suffering from throat infection.
Ramesh Krishnan suggested CLTA coach Mayank Capoor to change the grip of Anoon Anand and Akash Sharma. As these boys and Simmi and Harsimran bend little forward more to execute their strokes, Ramesh devoted most of the time on teaching the ground strokes to them.
The CLTA trainees, mostly drawn from the `Tournament Group' have been divided five groups. This will help Ramesh to identify plus and minus points of all individual trainees and suggest methods to overcome their shortcomings.
