7-year-old girl strangled
A 7-year-old girl was reportedly strangled in Kakrola village of the Matiala police station area on Sunday night. The police have been unable to determine the circumstances that led to the murder.Her brother, Ashu, 9, reportedly found Anjana, a student of Class III, Kakrola Public School, lying on the floor in their house. The siblings' parents had passed away a few years ago. Ashu and Anjana were supposed to go to their uncle's house located 20 yards away for dinner. The police believe that Ashu went ahead to their uncle's house at around 7.30 pm assuming that Anjana would follow. According to Ashu's statement to the police, he heard a male voice call Anjana inside the house just when they were about to leave. However, Ashu did not bother to enquire who it was and left the premises. When he came back home, he found Anjana's body lying inside the house. Her neck bore strangulation marks.
Four arrested for robbery
Five car-borne youngsters robbed the manager of Haryana Autocast Steel of Rs 2.5 lakh in Gurgaon district on Monday. Four of them have been arrested and Rs 2 lakh recovered from their possession.
According to SSP Gurgaon Khushi Ram Dahiya, E.C. Govinder started off from here with Rs 2.5 lakh in a Maruti car for Roz Ka Meo. The five youths accosted his vehicle at the Alipur crossing on Sohna Road. While one of them pointed a `katta' at the driver, the others snatched the suitcase containing cash from Govinder and fled. The manager informed the SHO of the Sohna police station and a team of policemen rushed from Gurgaon. They were caught but one of them managed to flee with Rs 50,000 of the booty. They have been identified as Pawan of Sirhol village, Pradip of Sukhrals, Dharamvir from Sukhrali and Pragati Naik of Orissa.
13-year-old girl raped
A 13-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her landlord in Jagatpuri Extension. The accused is reportedly absconding. The police said Leeladhar (40) lured the girl to watch TV in his room where he allegedly assaulted her. The girl later narrated the incident to her father Shyam Lal who beat up Leeladhar.
2 constables held for graft
Two constables of the Railway Police Force and a tout were arrested yesterday for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 8,000. The police say that constables Raj Singh and Ram Niwas posted at the Tughlaqabad police station, arrested Rahis Khan on the false charge of stealing a quilt.
The two reportedly told Rahis's elder brother Nafees Khan to pay Rs 25,000 for his release. The deal was apparently struck at Rs 10,000 through a tout, Prem Chand.
