Now is the time to dismiss Rabri Govt: Thakre

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
PATNA, SEPT 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kushabhau Thakre today denied reports that he had ruled out imposition of President's Rule in Bihar and said it was, ``an appropriate time'' to dismiss the Rabri Devi Ministry.

``My statement on invoking Article 356 of the Constitution in Bihar has been distorted... Inappropriate words have been put into my mouth... I am not averse to the demand for dismissing the corrupt and inefficient Government'', Thakre told reporters at Madhupur in Deogarh district.

``The situation in Bihar is extremely grim... Even people of the State feel insecure... It is an appropriate time to rid the people of the State of the inefficient and tainted Government'', he said.

Thakre was talking to reporters after participating in a State-level training camp for his party at Madhupur. He said the law and order situation in the State had touched ``its lowest ebb... And development works had ground to a halt.''

Earlier, addressing party workers, he said the BJP was ``deadagainst casteism and believed in human welfare''.

Thakre held the erstwhile Congress Government responsible for the price rise and inflation. He also defended the Pokharan nuclear explosions saying, ``it should have been done much earlier''.

Thakre termed as ``a major achievement'', the BJP-led Government's settlement of the long-pending Cauvery water dispute. He expressed confidence that the AIADMK would continue its support to the BJP ministry.

Thakre claimed that the Kashmir situation had ``tremendously improved'' after installation of the BJP-led coalition Government.
