MUMBAI, Sept 8: Following Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's statement that the government had askedMTV to withdraw the Indian tricolour from its logo, the music channel today said it had not received any written notification in this regard. The Minister had said MTV had been asked to remove the tricolour from its logo because it amounted to an insult to the national flag. He had also declared that the government would initiate legal action against MTV for bringing disrespect to the tricolour.
MTV India's chief Sunil Lulla, who's out of India, couldn't be contacted forcomment. But the channel has, in its statement, clarified that the adoption of the tricolour was MTV's ``way of celebrating, saluting and commemorating India's 50 years of Independence.''
The channel has sought an audience with the Ministry at the earliest.
Sources close to MTV said, ``Corrective measures will be taken only after an audience with the ministry.''
