VADODARA, Sept 8: The Gujarat Electricity Board restored power supply in a major part of the areas that plunged into darkness on Tuesday night following high velocity winds, but much of the good work was undone in Nagarwada, Fatehgunj, Warasia, Gotri, Salatwada and several other localities in the wake of heavy rains.Board Member (Technical) K K Vaghela told Express Newsline that 11 feeders and two overhead conductors had been affected in Monday night's storm, leading to power cuts. He said repairs ended only on Tuesday morning as it was difficult to locate the faults in the dark.
The power failure affected morning supply of water to parts of Fatehganj, Karelibaug and areas near the Sayaji Baug, as there was no power in the water tank.
Meanwhile, the GEB Engineers' Association has expressed unhappiness over the Board's reported decision to continue the special compensatory allowance and field allowance at current rates.
The State Government had promised them benefits as per the Fifth Pay Commission's recommendations, association president G C Marathe said, adding that it was now going back on its word.
