Nishant beats Anand by fall

NEW DELHI, Sept 8: Sonu of Captain Chand Roop akhara won a cash award of Rs 31,000 by defeating Surender Nad (Bhiwani) with a 2-0 verdict in the Chaudhary Hukam Singh memorial wrestling competitions held at Bawana yesterday.

Renowned wrestlers from all over the country participated in the competitions which were witnessed by more than 40,000 people. In other main bouts, Nishant (Sat Pal akhara) bt Anand (Chand Roop) by fall, Anil Joon (Sat Pal) bt World Cadet champion Ramesh, Mukesh (Sat Pal) bt Gulab (Sanjay), Ravinder Maan (Chhattarsal Stadium) bt Kartar by fall, Joginder (Chhattarsal Stadium) bt Surender (Kaithal) by fall and Sushil (Sat Pal) won four bouts. On the occasion, Minister of Human Resource and Development Murli Manohar Joshi laid down the foundation stone of Bawana stadium.
