Khushwant's security man was drunk, say police

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, September 8: The Tughlak Road police interrogated Khushwant Singh's security personnel today who was reportedly attacked in the early hours yesterday and discovered he was ``under the influence of alchohol'' at the time of the incident.

Senior police officers told Express Newsline, ``After interrogation, we now believe that Singh's security man was misleading us when he said that four assailants attacked him. The police believe that the policeman must have been attacked by only one person, if at all. There is a possibility that he might have dropped the pistol and the money somewhere. However, his holster was cut indicating that someone might have taken it while he was drunk.''

Singh's policeman had earlier maintained that the assailants, armed with long knives, threatened to stab him if he raised an alarm and escaped with his loaded pistol and the money in his pockets.
