Bajaj selected as Chairman of WEF

WEF integrates its foundation members in the decision making process via the council, which is made up of some 40 eminent representatives of member companies. Commenting on his appointment, Bajaj said : "I am pleased at the confidence my fellow council members have shown in choosing me to be their chairman. I look forward to working closely together with the Forum and our member companies to effectively address the challenges facing us as we move into the 21st century."

Members of the WEF council include Josef Ackermann, member of the board of managing directors, Deutsche Bank, John H Bryan, chairman and chief executive officer of Sara Lee Corporation, E Neville Isdell, CEO of Coca Cola, Kim Woo-Choong, chairman of Daewoo Corporation, and Kenneth L Lay, chairman and chief executive officer of Enron Corporation.

Jewellery show

MUMBAI: Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is organising the 14th India International Jewellery Show here from September 11 to 14. The show, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, offers a unique opportunity to the exhibitors to display their creations to a wide cross-section of international and domestic wholesale buyers, Praveen Shankar Pandya, chairman of GJEPC, said here recently.

Over 10,000 visitors from India and abroad are expected to attend the show where about 114 leading gem and jewellery exporters from India and renowned international jewellery manufacturers would display their collections.

A wide range of studded and plain jewellry in gold, silver and platinum, loose diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, costume/fashion jewellery and the latest jewellery making machines and auxiliaries would be displayed at the show, he said.
