Lok adalat
The newly formed Vadodara Moghwari Virodhi Sangarsh Samiti will organise a lok adalat on September 17 in connection with increasing prices of essential commodities. While journalist Kirit Bhatt will be the judge, the Samiti has invited Civil Supplies Minister Jaspal Singh to answer peoples' questions.

Meanwhile, local units of the Left parties took out a rally on Thursday to protest against the price hike of essential commodities. They have also appealed people to make the all-party bandh successful on September 18.

Anti-WCD rally
Members of the BJP's city unit on Thursday took out a rally in protest against the World Commission on Dam's visit to Bhopal. The members said although the Commission had cancelled its visit to Gujarat, its presence in Madhya Pradesh would hamper prospects of the Narmada Project. Later, they submitted a memorandum to District Collector Anil Mukim stating that the partymen would not tolerate hurdles in completing the Narmada project.

Phone queries
The chief engineer (Gram Vijlikaran) of the Gujarat Electricity Board will on Friday answer queries on `Gram Vijlikaran Yojanao No Amal, Targets and Achievements, Tatkal Yojnaono Amal' as part of the phone-in programme jointly launched by All India Radio, Vadodara, and Gujarat Electricity Board. GEB customers are invited to call in with their queries on (0265) 618195 between 7 to 9 pm. The recording of programme will be broadcast on Saturday at 7.20 pm on All India Radio, Ahmedabad-Vadodara in Khedut Mandal.

Aptech rally
Aptech students will take out a two-wheeler rally on Friday to mark the completion of 11 years of Aptech's inception in the city. The rally would start from Suraj Plaza at 2.45 pm and would go via Nizampura and Channi areas. As many as 100 students of the institute will participate in the rally.

ISTE meeting
The annual general meeting of the ISTE Polytechnic Chapter of the M S University will be held at the Polytechnic campus on Saturday, according to polytechnic Principal A G Telepande.

Demonstration
A lecture-cum-demonstration by noted Santoor artist Pt Brajan Sopori will be organised by the SPICMACAY on September 13 at the Home Science Auditorium, M S University, at 6.30 pm. For details call on 335407/342039.

Computer meet
The Banyan City Junior Chamber will organise a seminar on `The Fascinating World of Computer with Live Internet' on September 13 at the Vanijya Bhavan, Race Course, from 4 to 7 pm. Honoured
Executive Director of Gujarat Refinery P S Rao recently presented the `Rural Students' Academic Excellence Awards' to students from villages who stood first, second and third in their schools at the Class X and XII exams. The students were awarded cash prizes of Rs 1,000, Rs 500 and Rs 300, respectively.
