PASA detentions
The Limbayat police on Thursday took two notorious persons into custody under the provisions of the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) and sent them to the Ahmedabad and Vadodara jails respectively. Ganesh Sukhlal Patil, a resident of Godadara Neher area of Limbayat and Shaikh Fazal Nazir, a resident of Udhna Yard area of the city were arrested by the Limbayat police, which had sought permission from the police commissioner to arrest them under PASA. While Patil has been sent to the Sabarmati Central Jail, Shaikh was despatched to the Baroda District Jail.

Bodies found
The Kapodara police on Thursday morning recovered the dead body of an unidentified 30-year old man, from a gunny bag. The police said an anonymous caller informed the police of the dead body, lying near an underbridge beside Intercity Township on the Puna-Kumbharia Road. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered, though police officials believe it to be a case of murder. In another incident, the Mahidharpura police recovered the dead body of an unidentified 40-year old man, from a footpath beside Mohammadi restaurant in the Zampa Bazaar area. The bodies have been sent to the New Civil hospital for autopsy, the police said.

Suicide
Narpatraj Rawal, 22, residing in the Talawadi Mohalla of Begumpura area of the city committed suicide by consuming an insecticide on Wednesday night, the police said. He died before he could be admitted to the hospital, the police said, adding a case under CrPC 174 has been registered.

Cash looted
A senior citizen was intercepted by three youths and looted of cash Rs 50,000 along with share certificates and other valuables in a case of armed robbery registered in the Umra police station. Abdul Rehman Yusuf, a resident of Ghod Dod Road, was passing through the Umraonagar area on his scooter when three youths, two of them with sharp-edged weapons, pushed him off his scooter and escaped with the loot.
