Tributes were paid to Vinoba Bhave at Gandhi Smarak Bhavan on the occasion of his 103rd anniversary here today.About 15 persons took part in the spinning of cotton yarn which was followed by bhajans. The function was presided over by Punjab Khadi mandal chief Pt Uday Shankar. Besides Uday Shankar, others who paid tributes to Vinoba Bhave were Servants of People Society secretary Onkar Chand.Plea

Confederation of UT Administration and MC Technical Employees and Workers (Engineering Department) has requested the Administration to release the bonus for the year 1997-98 to all the workers of the Administration and the Corporation so that they can celebrate during the coming festival season.

Parishad Week
The Panchkula unit of Bharat Vikas Parishad will celebrate ``Parishad Week'' from September 12 to 20. During the week, the Parishad will undertake various projects like talk on dental care, general health care and `sanskar' in government schools in the district. On September 13, the Parishad will organise a camp for the rehabilitation of physically handicapped children at Saket Hospital, Sector 1 here.

Birthday of Swami Sivanananda Maharaj, a saint from Rishikesh, was celebrated here today by conducting special ``satsang'' in which teachings of the Swami were remembered, said a press statement issued by the Divine Life Society.

Result declared
The result of re-evaluation of B.Sc (general) third year examination held by Panjab University has been declared. An official statement of the university today said copies of the result gazette will be available at the enquiry counter at the university gymnasium between 10 to 5.

The Student Welfare Association of the Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Mohali has criticised the decision of the Punjab Technical University (PTU) to introduce regulations concerning the promotion system. The credit system of Cumulative Percentage Average Marks (CPAM) has led to many students to drop a semester.

Low calorie biscuits
Personal point, a health care clinic in Sector 7, Panchkula, today launched its low calorie cookies biscuits at a function here today. Presiding over the function, O P Mahajan, Health Minister, Haryana appealed to the people to become more health conscious. Sameer Goyal of the clinic informed that their branches would soon be opened in Ludhiana and Chandigarh also.

In a rally held on the campus of Government College for Boys, Sector 11, a new student outfit Government College Students' Association was formed here today. The association elected Amritpal Singh Brar `Dancer' as its president. The student leader appealed to the students for their support in the forthcoming poll.
Clarification
The city unit of Punjab State Red Cross Officers Welfare Association contradicted a news item published in these columns yesterday in which it was stated that the funds of society were misutilised. It was further stated that the association had never represented to the Punjab Governor on the matter.
