CM's plan on unauthorised colonies is "a bundle of lies"

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, September 11: The city unit of the Congress has termed the announcement of Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma on unauthorised colonies a ``bundle of lies'', and asked the Government to pay interest on the money it realised from the people.

At a press conference yesterday, the party chief whip Deep Chand Bandhu said that Sahib Singh had announced on June 1, 1997, that all unauthorised colonies would be provided electric connections on payment of a token fee.

``People have paid hefty development charges. But there are still no basic amenities made available to the people in these areas,'' he said. ``In some cases, the Delhi Vidyut Board had even sent bills for 14 months when there was no electricity provided in the first place,'' he added.
