NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday shifted hearing on all defamation cases filed against former Congress president Sitaram Kesri for passing alleged derogatory remarks against the RSS in connection with the Coimbatore bomb blasts this year before the district judge in Delhi.

UN rapporteur

NEW DELHI: Dr Arjun K Sengupta, former Planning Commission member, has been appointed by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in Geneva as ``independent expert'' (rapporteur). Sengupta will be rapporteur on matters relating to rights to development.

Mayawati plea

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday reserved its judgment on a petition by former UP Chief Minister Mayawati challenging State Assembly Speaker's ruling not to disqualify 19 Bahujan Samaj Party MLAS who had voted for Kalyan Singh Government last year disregarding the party whip.
