Two die of leptospirosis

SURAT, Sept 14: Leptospirosis, the annual scourge which created a havoc last year in South Gujarat, is showing no signs of abating this year too. With two more deaths on Monday, the number of people who have lost their lives to the killer disease this season rose to 24.

Two persons had died on Sunday. Mohanbhai Lallubhai Patel and Ramubhai Bhekhabhai Patel, both residents of Valsad taluka, died at the Civil Hospital in Valsad. Twenty six people are undergoing treatment at the Valsad Civil Hospital, while six others are taking treatment at the Navsari Hospital. The number of people afflicted with the disease this season rose to 274 with the admission of five more cases on Monday.
