Silver for men shuttlers; Eves bag bronze
India produced one of their finest team performances by reaping silver in the men's section though their women counterparts had to be content with the bronze medal after forcing a three-way tie by toppling eventual women's gold medalists England in the Commonwealth Games badminton today.Men win
The scoreline may suggest that Indian men dominated the proceedings, but it was not so. They could have scored more and let in fewer than the three they did. Anyway the 6-3 result meant India are still in the race for a semi-final berth. But the pool standings were thrown upside down with South Africa handing Australia a shock 3-2 defeat.
Pakistan win
Seasoned Salim Malik (4-36) came upwith an excellent bowling performance to help Pakistan beat India by 51 runs in the second match of the Sahara Cup cricket series at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club ground yesterday. Set to score 247 runs for victory, India were all out for 195 in 46.3 overs as Malik ran through the late order with able support from rookie medium pacer Abdur Razzaq (3-48).
Third win
The Indian women's hockey team put themselves in a good position to make the semi-finals with their third big win in a row in Pool A at KL.
