Subhania advance
Subhania entered the quarter-final of the Shera Pandit memorial tournament for the SP Trophy by the spin of the coin when their match against L B Shastri Club was abandoned due to rain. Subhania scored 186 for four in the stipulated 35 overs and L B Shastri were 37 for two when rain put an end to the game. Brief scores: Subhania: 186 for 4 (P. Ahlawat 60, H. EIL and BPCL have qualified for the final of the Team of Four (Duplicate) event in the 19th PSCB inter-unit carrom tournament. EIL are represented by Ved Parkash (captain), S Majumdar, Vivek Pandey, Rakesh Nanda, B S Gupta and A. Mondal. BPCL team comprses Marianne Karmarkar (captain), S.Behuraia, Priyatosh Sarkar, S.Dutta, A.Tosh and P.Chatterjee.
Modern girls win
Modern School (Vasant Vihar) girls defeated Bal Bharti Public School (Pitampura0 4-0 in the SS Mota Singh Memorial Hockey tournament. Vashnavi Bhatia was the most impressive with a brace. In junior boys section, RD Public School entered the second round as DAV Public School failed to turn up for their match against them. Two other matches scheduled for the day were cancelled because of rain.
Matches washed out
The football matches at Subroto Cup were cancelled because of the soggy conditions at the Ambedkar Stadium. All the three matches will be played tomorrow. Simlarly, the final in the Hind Kishore Football Tournament between APS (Noida) and Laxman Public School (Hauz Khas) were cancelled beause of the rains. The final will now be played on Wednesday.
Basketball tourney
The CBSE (cluster 10 North Zone) basketball tournament stands cancelled ``due to unavoidable circumstances,'' according to the chairman of the tournament committee.
