Delhi Police arrest suspected Dawood aide in Mumbai
The Delhi Police on Monday said that they have arrested an aide of Dawood Ibrahim from his Bandra flat in Mumbai.

The police added that following the interrogation of four alleged aides of Dawood Ibrahim, who were earlier arrested from the Jama Masjid area of the Walled City, a special team was dispatched to Mumbai to arrest Ahmed Rehman. Rehman had reportedly gone to Dubai as many as 35 times in the last eight months to bring arms into India.

The four men arrested earlier were allegedly conspiring to kill a Mumbai-based businessman for resisting extortion. They were arrested after the police received a tip off that two youths staying at the Hotel De Romana in Jama Masjid were making frequent calls to Dubai and Pakistan from a telephone booth.

Man arrested with tiger skin
A 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of tiger skin in the Model Town area of north Delhi on Sunday night. The police said that the skin of two tigers was recovered from Mukesh Sharma's handbag at the Gurudwara Nanak Piyao intersection, GTK Road, at around 11.40. Sharma was apparently on his way to Jama Masjid to strike a deal when the police asked him to disclose his possessions. He put up a resistance and then tried to flee. Upon being interrogated, he revealed the name of the person who had sold him the skin. ``But Sharma does not know his whereabouts,'' said a police official. This is the first time that Sharma has been arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Cop among two held for rape
The police have arrested a head constable and a water pump operator for allegedly raping a daily labourer in Sector 36, Noida. Police sources say Head Constable Ram Sanehi, who is posted at the Surajpur police station, reached Haraula village along with local shopkeepers Chaman and Rakesh in a Maruti van. They reportedly took a woman, who was a regular costumer at Chaman's shop, to a water pumping station in Sector 36. The three of them and the pump operator, Ompal, allegedly raped the woman and dropped her near her house in Haraula village. The woman lodged a case against the head constable and others.

Man confesses to killing wife
A nangloi-based cloth dealer Suresh (33) today confessed to the police that he stabbed his wife Mamta to death at their Moti Nagar residence around 11.30 pm last night after a routine domestic quarrel went out of hand. He told the police he stabbed her with a kitchen knife after she slapped him. The couple was childless, though both have children from an earlier marriage.

Teenager survives rape bid
A Sonia Vihar resident Bano (19) survived a lustful attack by Aslam, her husband's cousin, at her home this morning. Aslam, who lives next door, is said to have forced himself on Bano around 2 am. Bano's husband Salim, who came to her rescue, was stabbed in the process before Aslam finally took to his heels. He has since been arrested.

Man stabbed to death
An unidentified man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was stabbed to death while attempting to escape after stabbing property dealer Lakhpat Rai outside his Sultanpuri residence yesterday. Rai survived the attack and raised alarm. His sons Laxmi Narayan and Sunil grabbed hold of the assailant and knifed him to death. Incidentally, all that the Sultanpuri police have to identify the dead man is the tailor-mark on his shirt collar which read: Shining, New Delhi.

Armed men rob 20,000 mts of cloth
Between eight to ten armed men robbed nearly 20,000 meters of cloth from Unitex, a printing and dyeing unit in Samaipur Badli, yesterday after gagging four workers who were sleeping in the premises. The dacoits loaded the loot into a truck and made good their escape.

Gas station staff robbed
Bharat Singh, a Connaught Place L-Block petrol pump attendant, has complained to the police that he and a colleague was robbed of around Rs 10,000 at gun-point by two men on Saturday. The police were told that the two robbers fled in a white Maruti car towards Minto Road.
