Full scale Waugh ousts India from KL medal race
India and Pakistan made inglorious exits after humiliating defeats in their last league matches in the Commonwealth Games. India's challenge came to a grinding halt with a crushing 145-run defeat against Australia and with it, opened yet another controversy over whether India should have sent the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja to Kuala Lumpur.

Rana strikes one gold, promises more
Jaspal Rana, who won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the last Games, retained the Pairs title in the centre-fire pistol event. This was India's second gold medal of the Games and there should be more medals coming India's way in Air Pistol (pairs and individual) and then individual events in trap and centre-fire.

Akram quits to fight allegations
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram retired from international cricket yesterday following match-fixing allegations against him and has hired a retired judge to help him fight out the case. The International Cricket Council revealed last week that Akram, Salim Malik and Ijaz Ahmed had been implicated in match-fixing allegations and were being investigated by the PCB.
