South Africa squeeze into final
On a treacherous pitch that would have tested the world's best batsmen, South Africa had to turn to tailenders Nicky Boje and rookie Alan Dawson to squeeze them into the finals of the competition. Boje (20 not out) stood firm during those tense 68 deliveries, shielding an inexperienced Dawson (15 not out), to blunt a tremendous fightback from the Lankans.

Rana, Satendra settle for silver
Jaspal Rana and Satendra Kumar got India's third medal from shooting in the Commonwealth Games. They finished two points behind England's Michael Gault and Nick Baxter to claim silver in the pairs events of air pistol at Langkawi, 400 km north of the Malaysian capital.

Mixed fortunes for hockey sides
India's women lost 0-4 to the World Cup champions Australia while the men routed Trinidad and Tobago 8-0 in the hockey competitions of the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
