Man drowns kids out of frustration

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
GONDIA, SEPT 17: In an act of sheer frustration, an unemployed man threw his two children into a well and surrendered before the police at Rapewada village, about 10 km from here, recently.

According to information received, Jeevanlal Salikran Turkar (25), lived in a joint family along with his parents, two brothers, wife and two children. Although his wife was earning, Jeevanlal was unemployed. His neighbours and even his kin allegedly passed snide remarks at him and his parents often scolded him over minor reasons.

On the fateful day, Jeevanlal did not get up early while others did and started their usual work. His father was also working. His brother asked him if he did not feel ashamed of himself as their aged father was working. He said it was impossible for them to feed his children while he was not earning a buck.

Hurt by the comment, Jeevanlal left the house on the pretext that he was taking his two children to Gondia on excursion.

He then went to his third brother who was residing at the samevillage and told him that he was fed up of living in the joint family. Jeevanlal proposed to stay at his brother's place which the latter refused.

On his way to Gondia, Jeevanlal threw the children into a well and later surrendered before the Gondia rural police.

He took the cops to the well into which he had thrown his children. The police fished the bodies out and registered an offence under relevant sections of the IPC against Jeevanlal.
