MUMBAI, SEPT 17: In a landmark judgement, the thane Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has ordered a prominent advocate of Thane district to compensate a widow by paying her a sum of Rs. 90,000 for his failure to give proper service leading to her loosing the tenement.The case which has been a matter of discussion in the courts here, relates to a tenement in Virar which the husband of the widow owned. The complainant, Kamlabai Raghunath Jatkar (80) told the court that she stayed with her husband in a tenanted premise till 1982 at Virar. But due to the illness of her husband during the period 1982-85, they shifted to their daughter Meena Ramesh Dhamankar's residence at Mulund.
The court was told that the complainant's daughter Meena had been to the tenanted premises on 27/10/85 and found it locked. During the said period, the landlord at Virar obtained an ex-parte decree as also the possession of the tenanted premises in reg. Civil suit no 31 of 1984 by an order dated 30/04/1985 thus dispossessing thecomplainant and her husband of the premises.
