High-ranking officials of different State Government departments, the police, the Central and the Western Railway, the Army, Navy and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation took part in the meeting today.

The Chief Minister said the Government had decided to hike compensation to victims.

Earlier in the day, Joshi also paid an aerial visit to Thane and Manore. Thane, Nashik, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Akola are the worst affected districts. Officials are yet to sum up the exact loss suffered by these districts.

The Army was summoned in Thane district. In Ulhasnagar, people were evacuated from Rahulnagar, Swaminagar, and Bangligalli. Over 4,000 people were evacuated from Anupamnagar, Retibunder, Govindvadi and Rambaug areas in Kalyan.

Helicopters failed to reach Manore in Palghar area and the authorities had to depend on the Navy andthe Army apart from the local police for carrying out relief and rescue operations. Over 25 villages were flooded in Palghar alone. Over 6,000 people have been airlifted in Bhivandi.

Rains claimed two in Nashik. In Koregaon and Maan villages 106 houses were damaged.
