BJP will seek consensus for any new alliance: Naidu

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Hyderabad, Sept 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party will not align with any party other than the present allies without discussing the issue with its partners, BJP general secretary M Venkaiah Naidu announced today. ``We welcome others to support us based on our policies, but will not ditch the present allies,'' he said at a press conference here.

Seeking greater coordination among the coalition partners to strengthen Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's hands for fulfilling the aspirations of the people, Naidu said, ``Consensus is our agenda and dharma our Bhagvadgeeta.''

Welcoming PMK leader Ramadoss' suggestion to have frequent coordination meetings, he pointed that there were bound to be perceptional differences in the 18-party coalition and appealed to sort them out through discussions in private and to speak with one voice in public.

Referring to the Congress, he said, having failed in its mission to topple the BJP government, it had decided to observe a code of conduct. He welcomed the decision. There was noother option at present. It was either a BJP-led coalition or fresh elections, he claimed.

RABRI GOVT'S DISMISSAL: He demanded the dismissal of the Rabri Devi Government in Bihar to save the state from anarchy. ``The Centre should step in without any further loss of time to bail out the state from lawlessness, anarchy and constitutional and financial breakdown.''

Rabri Devi had no moral, political and Constitutional right to continue in office in the wake of total collapse of law and order, mysterious death of seven key witnesses in various scams and series of murders of people's representatives.

The party's demand for dismissal of the Bihar government did not mean that there was change in its stand on application of Article 356. The BJP was opposing its misuse for political gains. When there was a Constitutional breakdown, the party favoured invocation of Article 356, he added. However, he said, he was speaking on behalf of the party and not the Central Government.

Naidu reiterated his party'scommitment for creation of Vananchal state comprising tribal districts of Bihar.
