MARGAO, Sept 19: A second half goal by substitute Sabir Ali Mondal helped Salgaocar beat China's Beijing Guoan in the home match of the ninth Asia Cup Winners' Cup football tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.The all-important goal for last year's national club Football champions was scored in the 85th minute by Mondal as soon as he entered the field in place of Bruno Coutinho.
Salgaocar, who could not reach even the quarter-finals of this year's Federation Cup, played an attacking game today and dominated the first half. Coutinho controlled the proceedings and attacked the rival defence with accurate passes. A goal-mouth melee followed which saw Alvito crossing the ball to Jules. He sent the ball to Seby and he relayed it to Mondal who rushed and sent a right footed tap to deceive the Chinese keeper Li Tongquing.
