Unidentified man's body recovered
The body of an unidentified 35-year-old man was recovered from the Gujarat Housing Board by rescue personnel. According to the Katargam police, the man had died of drowning. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and are investigating. The official death toll due to the floods has reached 18, the police said.Burns death
One Ziniben Nayak, a 22-year-old woman died in the New Civil Hospital of the city on Sunday, where she was admitted with severe burn injuries four days ago. A resident of Daman Falia in Umargam area of Umra, Ziniben was cooking in her house when a kerosene stove exploded and caused her severe burn injuries, the Umra police said, quoting the dying declaration of the deceased. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the Umra police station.
Atrocities act
The Rander police have registered a case of rioting, threatening to kill and wrongful confinement against two persons, who allegedly confined a young woman in a room. Hansaben Rathod, the victim's mother told the police that two accused Ishwarbhai Retiwala of the Maachhiwaad area and Ashok Marathi of Jahangirpura confined her daughter in a room and abused her. The complainant further added that both fled after the incident, that occurred on Saturday night. The Rander police have registered a case under sections 323, 345, 504 and 506 (2) of the IPC and sections 1, 3 and 10 of the Atrocities Act and are investigating further. No arrests have however been made, the police added.
Case registeredVadodara: The police on Sunday registered separate cases against unidentified people for deliberately damaging government property on September 18. According to police, a ST bus (GJ-1-Z-1599) was stoned by unidentified people near Akashvani office on Makarpura road which caused a loss of Rs 800 and another ST bus (GJ-1-Z-2269) was damaged by agitators near Vihar cinema.
