MANESAR (GURGAON), Sept 21: The country's elite commando force, the National Security Guards (NSG) should be confined to counter-terrorist operations and hostage rescue missions rather than providing security to VVIPs.Home Minister L K Advani, while stating this at the 14th Raising Day of the NSG, volunteered to be the first VIP without the NSG cover.
Later talking to newspersons, Advani said that details regarding the removal of Black Cat cover for himself were being worked out by the Home Ministry. The Home Minister was of the view that the NSG was not conceived for the purpose of doing VVIP security.
``The idea of forming this commando force was to neutralise terrorist actions and deal with emergent rescue missions requiring commando expertise. However, the force is being utilised more for VVIP security,'' Advani said.
