Seventy-year-old Ukrainian nears "supermarathon" feat

KIEV: A 70-year-old Ukrainian marathon runner is only days away from completing a 2,500-km marathon run from the Polish town of Helm to the French port of Bordeaux, the Interfax news agency has reported.Yevhen Yalovy, from the Crimean port Sevasopol, started his supermarathon from Helm on the Ukrainian border three months ago and is only a few days from his destination point, the report said yesterday.
The runner has already passed Warsaw, Berlin and Paris.
Yalovy started his run in order to draw European attention to the ecological problems in the Black Sea.

Broke Tyson brokers for a Nov fight

LAS VEGAS: Mike Tyson, basically broke despite earning more than $ 100 million in his last six fights, could be back in the ring and earning millions by the end of November.
With his bid for a boxing license reinstatement now only a mere formality away from being accepted, Tyson stands ready to cash in with a series of megafights thatfigure to culminate in a third fight with Evander Holyfield.If a psychiatrist gives the ok, Tyson could be fighting as early as late November at the same Las Vegas casino where he bit Holyfield's ears and was banished from the sport he once dominated.
Da Costa breaks marathon mark

BERLIN: Brazil's Ronaldo da Costa broke the 10-year-old world record for a marathon in Berlin, running the course in two hours, six minutes and five seconds.
The 28-year-old bettered the old record held by Ethiopia's Belayneh Densimo by 45 seconds while running at one of the world's fastest courses -- a relatively flat route through the German capital.
