VADODARA, Sept 21: Even as the rain waters have started receding, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) provided medical assistance to as many as 3,516 people suffering from minor ailments.Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria told Express Newsline that in the last few days, eight medical teams were sent to slums and settlement sites.According to him, the teams visited 12,510 households, and would continue their visits till the month-end.
Meanwhile, the civic body has sent seven dumpers and the District Collectorate 12 dumpers to Surat.
Ruling out the possibility of an epidemic breaking out in Vadodara, Aloria said the corporation had taken necessary measures. He said 10 extra tractors and 300 safai workers had been pressed into service. According to information, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation was clearing 400 to 450 metric tonne of solid waste daily.
Comparing the health scenario between September 1 and 20 last year and, the same corresponding period this year, Aloria said as compared to 134 jaundice cases last year, 98 were recorded this year.
Similarly, as against 54 gastroenteritis cases last year, this year there are 67 cases, he said, adding, last year, there were 81 malaria cases while this year the figure was 102.
