NEW DELHI, September 21: The south district police have been unable so far in obtaining definite clues in the murder of the retired naval officer J D Krishna at his East of Kailash residence. Joint commissioner (southern range) Amod Kanth told Express Newsline that ``we are probing the case from various angles and cannot rule out anything at this stage.'' However, the investigating officials have concluded that the assailants were known to the victim. The police have recovered addresses of various property dealers from the naval officer's house. The deceased had apparently been planning to dispose off his house before shifting in with his England-based son.
The investigators suspect that a person known to the officer might have passed on information to a criminal. In fact, the police suspect that the acquaintance might have accompanied the killer to Krishna's house on the fateful day. This would explain the ``friendly entry'' into the house.
The police are waiting for the post-mortem report which will indicate the exact time the ex-officer was murdered. This could range anywhere between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Krishna's body bore a single stab wound in the neck, apparently inflicted by a kitchen knife. His house had been ransacked and some money was believed to be missing. The 75-year-old's body was reportedly found by some relatives in the kitchen with his hands and feet tied together. Krishna was scheduled to leave for London last night.
