NEW DELHI, September 21: The striking trial court lawyers were today joined by their colleagues in the Delhi High Court. However, the token strike by the members of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) only had a partial effect on the court's functioning, with the bench deciding to work normally.Interestingly, the DHCBA ``condemned'' the Delhi Bar Association (DBA) for ``casting aspersions'' on some High Court judges who issued suo-moto notices to the DBA secretary Rajiv Khosla.
While most senior advocates did not appear in the High Court, their presence was marked by junior advocates through proxy. The lower courts however, were completely deserted, and the strike was total.
The day-long strike was in protest against the HC's ``inaction'' against the allegedly high-handed behaviour of a sessions judge. Several lawyers have also levelled corruption charges against the judge.
