Fr Agnel, BRC in title clash

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, September 21: Two excellent goals by forward Shakir Khan enabled local challangers Father Agnels Public School overpower Sports College (Lucknow) 3-0 to set up the title clash with Bihar Regimental Centre (Danapur) in the 32nd Mohan Singh Hockey Tournament at Shivaji here today.

In the second semifinal, Bihar Regiment Centre edged out Shivalik Public School (Chandigarh) 1-0.

In the girls section, S.G.N.P School (Shahbad) will take on Arya Kanya High School, Sonepat in the final.

Both the finals are slated for tomorrow.

Father Agnel School continued with their victory spree and led 1-0 at half time.

Willson Dung Dung gave Father Agnel School the lead in the 28th minute when he converted a penalty corner.

The winners should have added a couple of more to their tally in this session itself but their forwards were guilty of muffing in the circle. The Sports College boys were not in their own self today and quite content to defend rather than play an attacking game.

In the second half, Shakir Khan scored goals in the 50th and 60th minute to seal the match in his team's favour.

In the other semifinal, BRC waged a grim battle to down Shivalik School 1-0. The all-important goal was scored by Biraj Tete in the 64th minute.

In the last round robin league match in the girls section, Arya Kanya School defeated Govt High School, Jharsa 4-2 after leading 2-1 at half time. The Arya Kanya team played a fast game and with a purpose while their rivals seemed content to take things easily.

Neelam (2), Poonam and Meena scored for Arya Kanya. Babita and Mithlesh scored a goal each for the losers.
