Hockey meet put-off
Lack of proper ground preparation, hampered the start of the Poona City Zonal Sports Committee (PCZSC) Inter-Collegiate hockey meet resulting in the postponement of the meet at the S.P College ground, here today.

The matches will now commence from Tuesday September 22 at 9.00 a.m according to Prof. Gurav, sports in-charge of the tourney.

Nitin's efforts go in vain
Ness Wadia College scored a 37-run win over their sister institution Nowrosjee Wadia College to gain maximum points from their tie in the PDMGSC organised C.K Nayadu under-19 limited overs cricket tournament at their home grounds, today.

Ness batting first, rattled up 134 with their openers failing miserably.

Pawan Gangawati (17), Imran Qureshi (29) and a supportive 24-run knock by John Besterwitch helped Ness stabilise reach some respectability.

The architect of Ness Wadia's downfall was left-arm medium pacer Nitin Devginkar who finished with figures of 6/12, while Mithun Tribhuvan scalped 2/25.

Nowrosjee Wadia crumbled with a miserable batting performance and were shot out three-runs short of the three figure mark. However, Umesh Dangat (15), Mithun Tribhuvan (12) along with Amol Shagiral -- who top-scored with 21 runs towards offered some resistance to help Nowrosjee narrow the loss.

John Besterwitch and Imran Nahat shared bowling spoils with three wickets apiece.
