MUMBAI, September 22: A fine hat-trick by Srikanth Saratchandran, enabled Holy Family (Andheri) to beat much-fancied Don Bosco (Matunga) 3-0 and enter the quarter-finals of the boys under-10 Inter-School football tournament, sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive, at the St Stanislaus ground, Bandra, yesterday. All goals came in the second-half in the match that was played under a drizzle. The first and second goals were solo efforts by Srikanth. The spadework for his third goal was done by winger John Coutinho, whose beautiful lob into the goalmouth was deflected by the goalkeeper and Srikanth tapped in to register his hat-trick.
Don Bosco missed a golden opportunity to reduce the margin when they muffed a penalty after Holy Family was leading 2-0, but Holy Family goalkeeper Ravithesh effected a good save.
Barring the penalty lapse, the Holy Family defence gave no room for the Don Bosco forwards and in the halfline Arjun Chawla, Akshay Ahuja and Tushar Mathuru stood out.
