VADODARA, Sept 22: Additional Commissioner of Police M K Tandon on Tuesday exhorted the State Transport buses drivers to strictly follow the traffic rules so as to prevent accidents and traffic jams. He said this while addressing a function of drivers at the Makarpura ST Depot.Pointing out the various traffic rule violations by ST drivers, with the help of a video film prepared by the police, Tandon said that haphazard parking of vehicles obstructed smooth flow of traffic, causing a lot of inconvenience to the general public. He also asked the drivers to equip their vehicles with proper headlights and reflectors so as to minimise accidents on the busy city roads.
Expressing concern over air pollution due to buses, he asked the drivers to get their vehicles checked regularly and carry out the necessary repairs in case the pollution level was beyond permissible limits.
Talking about scarcity of autorickshaw stands in the city, he said over two dozen sites for purpose had been identified, which would soon be made available to the drivers.
Regional ST director P K Patel also advised the drivers to avoid rash driving.
