PUNE, SEPT 25: Bharatiya Janata Party president Kushabhau Thakre today cautioned party workers against taking steps which could affect the party image.Addressing a BJP workers rally, organised on the occasion of 82nd birth anniversary of the late Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Thakre said voters had expressed their faith in the party because they believed in the character of the BJP. He said the voters, after experiencing 50 years of beimaani (dishonesty), had given them an opportunity because the BJP was known for its imaandari (honesty).
Party workers, he said, should stay away from negative elements in society who would try to come closer to them since the BJP was in power in Mumbai and Delhi. The workers, before they take any decision, should devote time to introspection. ``Do not think for yourself. If you think for yourself, there will be dispute within the organisation. Keep yourself away from all disputes.''
Thakre said the workers should not think that their ways should changesimply because they had come to power. Stating that the organisation should never be dependent on the Government, Thakre said any organisation which does that becomes weak or gets destroyed in course of time.
``Our party should stand on its own feet and not depend on the Government,'' he said, adding that the Government was nothing but a tool to get to their final objective. He said the party was supposed to guide the Government and party workers should not get attracted to power.
Earlier, State BJP general secretary Sharad Kulkarni announced a three-phased action plan to prepare for the next Assembly elections in Maharashtra. He said the action plan would come into effect next month and would conclude by the end of next year. The plan would mainly stress upon training the workers, social mobilisation, public relations and fund raising.
Party leaders Pradeep Ravat, Girish Bapat and Dilip Kamble and Prakash Jawdekar also addressed the rally.
