S A S NAGAR, Sept 25: The draw of lots for allotment of 32 partially-built houses in Sector 70 under the High Income Group (HIG) category was held near the PUDA office today.Three houses were reserved in the SC/ST category, one each for the blind and the physically-handicapped, one for freedom fighters, two for serving and retired defence personnel, one for dependents of deceased defence personnel and one for sportsmen. As many as 1,372 applicants had applied under the scheme, according to PUDA officials. No application was received under the sportsmen category, and PUDA had to convert it into the general category before the draw.
Later, a draw of lots for numbering and flooring of 100 MIG (Super) and 32 HIG houses in Sector 70 was also concluded.
PUDA Additional Chief Administrator Seema Jain said the physical possession of 784 MIG (Super) houses in Sector 70 had been simplified by introducing a single-window system. The "physical" slip could be collected from the Estate Office by making 25 per cent of the total cost of the house payable to PUDA. She said in order to avoid inconvenience to public, a possession office has been set up at the site.
Meanwhile, Estate Officer G.S. Ghuman has started an inquiry into the alleged irregularity in the September 23 draw of lots for Sector 70 LIG houses. He has been asked to submit his preliminary probe report within a week.
