PUNE, Sept 25: Sumeet Patil's swashbuckling knock of 62 steered Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) into the semi-finals of the D'Mello Trophy limited overs cricket tournament defeating Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) by eight wicket, here today.AFMC, put on to bat first, had a torrid time facing some tight bowling from Anand Dalvi (3/22) and Vedant Patwardhan (3/24), before folding up with a total of 141-runs in 39.3 overs. Only Samarjit Singh (34) and Saurabh Ghosh (20) managed to reach the double figure for medical college.
BMCC, armed with in form opener Sumeet Patil and all-rounder Anand Dalvi, overhauled the required target, taking just 17.3 overs and losing two wickets. Sumeet Patil build a strong base in the opening with his knock of 62 and later Anand and Rajesh Raut see the team through, being not out at 31 and 19, respectively.
The other quarter-final between MES Garware College and SP College turned out to be a one-sided affair, as the SP College boys easily advanced into the last four. After bowling out MES for a paltry 38 in 17.3 overs, the winners rattled up the necessary runs in less than 13 overs.

AFMC: 141 in 39.3 overs (Samarjit Singh 34, Saurabh Ghosh 20, Anand Dalvi 3/22, Vedant Patwardhan 3/24) lost to BMCC: 142 for 2 in 20.4 overs (Sumeet Patil 62, Anand Dalvi 31 n.o., Rajesh Raut 19 n.o., Saurabh Ghosh 2/8).
Result: BMCC won by 8 wickets.
