PUNE, Sept 25: Nakul Deodhar and Suvarna Kulkarni teamed up to put aside the challenge of Uday Patil and Sameera Dandekar 15-6, 15-1 and bag the mixed doubles title in the III Mahavir Sports Club Badminton tournament, held recently.The pair combined well and asserted their command all throughout. The first game saw the losing duo put up some resistance initially before going down 15-6.
However the second set belonged entirely to the winners as they rapidly wrapped up the issue 15-1 to take home the title.
In the ladies doubles final, Varsha Vartak and Manjeri Keskar proved too good for N Gaikwad and M Vaidya winning by an identical margin of 15-6, 15-1.
The mens doubles saw Bipin Kale and Hrishikesh Thatte clinch the title beating Ajay Majgaondar and Vinit Dabak in contrasting sets. The duo easily took the first game 15-3 aided by some accurate placements. However, the second game was a keen tussle as Ajay and Vinit put on some stiff resistance battling it out all the way before going down 14-17 and ending runners-up.
The above-45 years mens doubles final was a sober affair. Anil Patgaonkar and V D Kurulkar annexed the title convincingly defeating Suresh Renuse and Dilip Deodhar in straight games 15-6, 15-9.
